Shane Burcaw has Spinal Muscular Atrophy and a wicked sense of humor. He runs a blog about his experiences and is the founder of a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing adaptive technology to people living with muscular dystrophy. He is the author of Laughing at My Nightmare and the picture book Not So Different. He lives in Minneapolis, Minnesota, with his girlfriend.

I would really recommend this book to fellow SMA people. But also to people with other dissabilities. I think there are so many moments where it's almost your own story that is being told. An other plus is the writing itself. I'm not a native English speaker, but it's an easy text to read. You just go through page after page, losing track of time and finish it really fast. That's what happend with me. For those people who don't like dark humor or use it itself, I'll recommend to skip this book or at least some pages. Greetz from Belgium, also SMA patient
I absolutely love this book! It makes me laugh so hard and just shows a different side of living with a disability. And it was also easy to understand even if english is not my native language. You should definitely read it!!!
